# Answer Sheet Grader

> First-pass marking of photographed, handwritten answer sheets against a teacher's own marking key. For each question: a transcription of what the student wrote, proposed marks with the rubric lines met, a short justification, feedback for the student, and a "needs your check" flag for illegible, ambiguous or unexpected answers. The teacher edits any mark, ticks each flag and approves the sheet; nothing is final until then. Batch a class, see class statistics, export CSV and Markdown feedback.

## What it does
- The marking key: typed question by question, pasted as plain text ("Q1 ... (4 marks)" followed by "[1] point" lines, read in the browser for free), or imported from JSON or CSV. Rubric lines may carry their own marks.
- One paid step per sheet: an AI model reads up to four page photos and the key, transcribes each answer (crossed-out text ignored), and proposes marks naming the rubric lines met. Strictness: balanced, strict, or lenient (half marks for a partly made point).
- The page checks every reply against the key: one row per key question whatever the reply says, marks capped at the question's maximum and rounded to halves, rubric lines that do not exist dropped, a mark that disagrees with the lines it cites flagged, answers missing from a cut-off reply flagged.
- The teacher stays in control: every mark and every feedback line is editable, a sheet can be approved only after each flag is ticked as checked, and editing after approval returns it to draft. Sheets that are not answer sheets or are too blurred are labelled as such and can be marked by hand.
- Class results: mean, median, range, per-question averages with the lowest-scoring question named, a marks table, CSV export, and per-student feedback sheets.
- Free: a worked example class of five sheets (strong, weak with an illegible answer, a blank answer, a blurred photo, not an answer sheet), the key editor and scheme reader, marking by hand, review and every export.

## Pricing
No API key needed - pay per run with SkillSafe credits, one run per sheet. The most a batch could cost is shown as reserved before it starts; the charge is what each run used, usually less.

## Privacy
Photos are shrunk in the browser and their location data removed before upload. Saved classes keep the key, marks and feedback on the teacher's account (or in this browser for guests); the photos are not saved with them.
